How are your animals cared for?

All of our animals are loved and cared for like family. They get veterinary care, good food, and lots of love. Production animals that no longer produce (ex: chickens that have stopped laying eggs) become retired and are allowed to live out the rest of their days with the same level of care and compassion that every other animal receives. We love our animals and cry when they leave us. Providing this level of care, even to our retired critters, is a luxury that we are happy and proud to provide.

What is permaculture?

"Permaculture" is defined as: the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient.

What this means is that we manage our land in such a way that it reflect naturally occuring balances and arrangements as seen in nature. For example; a large tilled field of watermelons is not really naturally occuring, but a compost pile that feeds a wide variety of plants around it mimics the natural cycle. Plants grow where there are nutrients, decaying organic matter provides a lot of nutrients, the growing plants help the material to decay faster while using the nutrients to grow.
